- History: Nguyen Cong Tru (1778 - 1858) was born in Uy Vien village, now Xuan Giang commune, Nghi Xuan district, Ha Tinh province. In 1832, as governor of Hai An (Hai Duong - An Quang), he asked the court to establish villages and communes for easier management, and he named the first village Huong Hoa (Co To district now). In the 19th Minh Menh year, he came back to the position of Governor of Hai An and manager of the company of soldiers and boats to Chang Son Island, killing many enemies, capturing many boats, and then pulling troops back to station in Van Don.
- The reason for naming the street after Nguyen Cong Tru is to remember his great merits in protecting the land, expanding villages and communes, and affirming national sovereignty.
